Procurement “is the process of getting the goods and/or services your company needs to fulfill its business model. Some of the tasks involved in procurement include developing standards of quality, financing purchases, negotiating price, buying goods, inventory control, and disposal of waste products like the packaging. In the overall supply chain process, procurement stops once your company has possession of the goods. To make a profit, the cost of procuring your goods must be less than the amount you can sell the goods for, minus whatever costs are associated with processing and selling them.”

A supply chain “consists of everybody involved in getting your product in the hands of a customer. It includes raw material gatherers, manufacturers, transportation companies, wholesale warehouses, in-house staff, stock rooms and the teenager at the register. It also includes the tasks and functions that contribute to moving that product, such as quality control, marketing, procurement, and sourcing. Using the above analogy, the supply chain can be considered the entire chair, while procurement and sourcing are parts of the chair.”

Procurement is the process of getting the goods you need, while supply chain is the infrastructure (extensive, in many cases) needed to get you those goods.

Whether you are interviewing for a supply chain management job or simply meeting a client or potential customer, making a good first impression is very important. Therefore, understanding some ways you may ruin that first impression are important to keep in mind to ensure you are making the best first impression you can.

• Typos – When sending a resume, cover letter, or follow-up email, having typos present in your correspondence is extremely unprofessional and should be avoided at all costs. Proofread your work and, if possible, have someone else proofread your correspondence to ensure it is free of spelling and grammar errors.

• Not up with technology – In today’s technologically advanced society, not providing an email address or not having your voice mail set up is considered not up-to-date and, therefore, difficult to correspond with. Ensure you have a good, professional, email address on your resume and all correspondence. Also, be conscious of your voice mail and cell phone and its set up. Have a professional greeting and watch out for ring-back tones and other extras that may not be professional to those leaving you a message.

• Not engaged – You can quickly ruin your first impression if you are not engaged in the conversation. If you are meeting someone for the first time, especially during an interview, be sure to make eye contact and stay engaged in the conversation. Checking your phone or your watch can be distracting and be extremely unprofessional. Staying engaged in the conversation and show your genuine interest in what is being said.

5 SEBAB Pekerja BERHENTI KERJA walaupun mereka Sukakan Kerja Mereka

Kehilangan pekerja yang bagus adalah merupakan satu mimpi ngeri kepada para majikan. Hal ini berikutan mereka perlu mengeluarkan sejumlah besar kos untuk mencari dan melatih pengganti. Malah, 'ketidakpastian'' cara kerja pengganti tersebut adalah merupakan satu isu kepada para majikan.

Walaupun sebenarnya ada sebab yang kukuh; terdapat peluang lebih baik, mereka tidak sesuai untuk syarikat atau terpaksa berpindah atas sebab peribadi. Walau apa pun sebabnya, kehilangan pekerja yang baik adalah tetap buruk bagi sesebuah syarikat.

Selain dari sebab- sebab di atas, apakah lagi sebab lain yang menjurus kepada situasi  di atas?

1. MENDATAR

Setiap individu sebenarnya tidak mahu terkunci dalam satu posisi yang sama selama 10- 20 tahun tanpa nilai peningkatan dalam kehidupan mereka. Mungkin ya, gaji meningkat. Tetapi, mereka juga mahu peningkatan nilai dari sudut skop kerja dan pengetahuan. 

Katakan mereka bekerja di bahagian gudang dan menjaga stok keluar masuk dengan pembekal, mereka pasti mahukan satu perubahan dalam diri mereka selepas 2-3 tahun. Jadi, majikan sepatutnya prihatin ke atas isu ini dan berikan mereka latihan berkaitan dengan pembekal seperti;

2. OVERWORK

Walaupun pekerja tersebut sukakan kerja mereka, kerja yang berlebihan yakni, kerja lebih masa dan hujung minggu sebenarnya agak menyesakkan. Kebiasaannya; pekerja yang anda percayai, yang paling bagus adalah pekerja yang paling banyak anda sesakkan dengan kerja.

Perkara ini akan membuatkan mereka kehilangan nilai dalam kehidupan mereka.

3. VISI YANG KABUR

Tiada apa yang lebih mengecewakan bagi seorang pekerja yang berdedikasi apabila tiada visi yang jelas untuk dicapai. Objektif untuk dirinya, objektif untuk syarikat tidak begitu jelas menyebabkan mereka kehilangan arah dan terus beralih arah ke tempat lain.

Apabila majikan kurang memberi pengiktirafan kepada pekerja, majikan juga akan kurang memberi motivasi lalu menyebabkan pekerja berasa kurang dihargai dan kurang keyakinan diri.

Atas sebab begini, pekerja akan hilang motivasi bekerja dan beralih arah.

5. KEUNTUNGAN VS PEKERJA

Semestinya keuntungan sangat penting bagi sesebuah syarikat. Tetapi, jika hanya keuntungan yang dipentingkan daripada nilai pekerja itu sendiri, ini pasti menimbulkan masalah. Hal ini kerana keuntungan yang diperoleh bergantung juga kepada soal, "Siapa yang melakukan kerja".

4 KESALAHAN Syarikat PERLU TAHU

Bila kita berbincang berkenaan dengan Supply Chain Management (SCM), banyak syarikat di Malaysia seolah tidak ambil peduli. Umpamanya, bila kita mahu makan tak perlukan sudu. Ya, sudah tentu boleh saja makan tanpa menggunakan sudu. Tetapi, alangkah manisnya jika kita dengan tertib menggunakan sudu terutama bila makan makanan yang berkuah.


Begitulah umpamanya kepentingan SCM kepada Syarikat. Semua syarikat boleh menjalankan bisnes mereka TETAPI tanpa ilmu SCM yang betul, pengurusan mereka akan tunggang terbalik serta tiada tertib dalam pengurusan tender/ kontrak bersama pembekal.

ALASAN Syarikat tidak belajar ilmu SCM.

1. TIADA ILMU

- Kurang pengetahuan, atau tiada ilmu tentang kepentingan SCM. Disebabkan inilah, mereka sangat dituntut untuk mengikuti latihan SCM yang disediakan!

2. SYARIKAT KECIL 

-Tidak kira sama ada syarikat kecil atau besar, semua nya perlu ada sistem dan SOP. Ini merupakan antara SALAH  BESAR.

3. TIDAK RELEVEN UNTUK SYARIKAT. 

- Ini juga merupakan antara kesalahan besar. Tidak kira sama ada syarikat yang melakukan bisnes produk/ servis; semua Syarikat perlukan ILMU SCM.

4. MASA BELAJAR TERLALU PANJANG

- Kebanyakan syarikat sanggup membiarkan keadaan syarikat terumbang ambing tanpa sistem SCM hanya kerana alasan, " Masa latihan terlalu panjang".

Mereka tidak memikirkan jika mereka dapat laksanakan sistem yang terdapat dalam ilmu SCM, mereka dapat menjimatkan lebih banyak masa, tenaga dan juga kos.
